The FCC ruled that this admittedly steamy introduction to ABC's Monday Night Football -- in which Desperate Housewives star Nicolette Sheridan persuades Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens to skip the game -- did not cross the line into indecency. The Commission allowed that the segment was "sexually suggestive," but found it neither graphic nor explicit enough to be patently offensive. "Owens is fully dressed throughout the segment, and, with the exception of a moment when her bare back is exposed to the audience, Sheridan is at all times fully covered with a towel. No sexual or excretory organs are shown or described, and no sexual activities are explicitly depicted or described." In the Matter of Complaints Against Various Television Station Licensees Regarding the ABC Television Network's November 15, 2004, Broadcast of "Monday Night Football," 20 FCC Rcd. 5481 (2005).
